Château Moulin de Lagnet Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2006
Price on 09/02/10: $39.99 |
Anne-Lise Goujon and her husband Pierre Chatenet purchased this 8 hectare Chateau outright from family members in 1984 to avoid the French inheritance laws that threatened to divide and destroy this fourth generation property. They have been practicing organic viticulture since 2001 and were certified by Ecocert in 2004. The vineyards surround their house and 16th century chai which was once a wind-driven flour mill belonging to the Medieval Baron de Lagnet. The vines are planted on the highly lauded terroir of the plateau above the village where all the Grand Cru Classe are located. Yields at this Chateau are kept way short of the allowable levels and the resulting natural concentration of the wines is amazing. Pierre is a meticulous gardener and the vines are hand pruned and tended to every day of the growing season. Canopy management is his key in this precocious climate and Pierre is keenly aware and capable.
