A Cru Beaujolais at its best, this Morgon has beautiful notes of tart cherry and bright acidity. Low in sulfites and unfiltered, this bottle is phenomenal on its own and would be a luxurious compliment to quail.

Wine Advocate

Foillard's 2008 Morgon Cote du Py has turned out very well in bottle, its ripe red raspberry, cherry, kirsch distillate, smoked meat, brown spices, and nut oils (all noted in issue 184) now vividly underlain by impressions of black tea, crushed stone and salt that complement its juicy, buoyant finish. There is a slightly funky gaminess that some tasters will no doubt appreciate less than do others. For me though, this smoothly-textured, complex Gamay is classic Morgon that should prove versatile at table for at least the next 12-18 months.

Score: 90. —David Schildknecht, August 2010.
