Drink it now or cellar it until 2019. Either way, this gem from the “shin” of Italy will knock your socks off. This is layered with dark fruit, wild herbs and the essence of minerals. Have with lamb meatballs.
Wine Advocate
The 2001 Taurasi is a big, strapping wine loaded with the essence of minerals, smoke, graphite, dark fruit, wild herbs and spices. This layered, beautifully-delineated Taurasi needs a few years in the cellar to smooth the edges and allow the sweet, perfumed fruit to emerge, but it is a very promising wine. The Taurasi saw 20-25 days of maceration followed by a year of aging in tank and another 12-18 months in oak. Readers won't want to miss this terrific effort from Cantine Lonardo. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
